The Business Development Manager (BDM) Role is responsible for business opportunity creation and identification for the Electronic Systems Segment (ESS) C4I Systems Business Unit. The ability to create and execute new acoustic sensor market entry strategies, quickly establish and build new relationships, and articulate innovative value propositions are critical in meeting our Acoustic Sensor growth expectations focused on emerging the US Navy Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Initiatives and to a lesser extent those of our allies. The BDM is responsible for developing and managing relationships between the internal organization and potential customers (government and industry) that are key to successfully executing our growth strategy. The BDM is responsible for achieving business targets as outlined by management.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Opportunity Creation – developing a creative value proposition to customers based on their needs or market feedback to uniquely position the acoustic sensor business for an opportunity before a formal, competitive procurement is underway.
Business Strategy – in partnership with Business Development Leadership, responsible for creating, identifying, pursuing, and closing business opportunities & initiatives by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities; preparing and presenting business cases for market opportunities at checkpoint reviews; and evaluating probability of success to maximize resource investments. Gathers market intelligence and industry trends to provide business leads with an understanding of the competitive landscape.
Business Acumen – creates and fosters a culture of business acumen in the assigned areas; embracing a strategic, proactive approach in supporting business area leaders with identifying, actively pursuing and closing new markets, customers, and business opportunities; understanding the financial implications of an opportunity.
Data Analytics – develops metrics and tracks/evaluates performance of sales, program opportunities, and strategic initiatives.
Change Agent – acts as the change engine for the business, ensuring innovations and developments are led to successful implementation of pursuits. Bringing forward creative, entrepreneurial business cases to support new market entry.
Presentation Preparation – overall responsibility for the creation of business strategies pertinent to his/her portfolio, and managing the pipeline information in CRM. Outlines processes and leads creation of all pertinent related presentation materials to the BA and BU leaders. Partners with Business Area and Business Development Leadership on a consistent approach and assists in the creation when necessary for presentations from the Business area to Leadership.
Undergraduate degree required with 10+ years of experience in ASW related markets, entrepreneurial business cases, and opportunity creation.
At least 7 years of experience in the ASW operational community either on submarines or surface platforms such that the candidate is conversant in ASW .
Travel as required, domestic and international; up to 25%.
Re-locate to Salt Lake City, UT
Active Secret Clearance.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Strong quantitative, analytical, and communication skills.
Qualified in submarines or a Surface Warfare Officer with ASW experience
Ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.
