Job Description:

Provides advanced systems engineering focused on complex software based space systems. In this position the individual will support the entire Systems Engineering product lifecyle of space based software applications. The individual is expected to be able to use the application of advanced engineering standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques to solve complex problems associated with spaceflight hardware. Throughout a life cycle, will lead the design, development, test and verification of complex engineering hardware. Works independently to resolve a wide range of engineering problems, requiring collaboration with all required disciplines (software, optical, electrical, etc...). Evaluates and provides input to change request assessments. Communicates technical issues, risks, opportunities and status to systems/supervisory leadership. Interacts with teammates and customers to ensure alignment


  • Bachelor degree with 9+ years of experience

  • Active Top Secret or TS/SCI Clearance Required

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant systems engineering work and/or space systems experience and general knowledge of systems engineering processes- required

  • 9 years relevant experience with software systems and/or sensor systems technology architecture, design, implementation, integration, and test - required

  • Ability to lead program milestone reviews (SRR, SDR, PDR, CDR, FCA/PCA, PSR) - required

  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, ability to interact with a cross functional team, act as customer interface – required

  • Experience in requirements sell off and documentation – required

  • Disciplined approach to testing and documentation of processes and results - required

  • Ability to collaborate across all levels of leadership - required

  • MagicDraw or Rhapsody experience used for MBSE (Model Based Systems Engineering)-required

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace, or other related scientific discipline preferred

  • Experience with developing/architecting a continuous integration environment

  • CMMI level 3 process and practice experience

  • Familiarity with Geospatial Intelligence

  • Familiarity with DoD Security a plus (SRR, STIGS, etc.)

  • Ability to architect enterprise web- based platform

  • Familiarity with Confluence/JIRA

  • Program closeout review/buyoff experience - desired

  • Experience with DOD and NASA optical space based instruments – desired

  • Experience in risk management – desired

  • Experience with subcontractor technical oversight- desired

  • Experience with project management aspects of technology development programs - desired

  • Experience with Atlassian Tool Suite
