Responsibilities include the functional management of the Building 26 Microelectronics Factory in Palm Bay, FL. This position is focused on providing overall leadership and support to the Manufacturing activities in support of Programs and Pursuits.
In this role, the Operations Manager is responsible for overall program execution within the Microelectronics facility supporting multiple business areas. The Operations Manager is responsible for leading an organization of Manufacturing Engineers, Engineering Specialists, Engineering Technicians and Assemblers. This includes direct supervision and leadership of the Manufacturing organization and coordination of the overall Operations support including the Mission Assurance/Quality, Supply Chain, Production Planning, and Test Engineering functions providing support to the Microelectronics Manufacturing facility.
Meet functional requirements of staffing, training, talent development,engagement, retention, and overall management of Manufacturing department / function.
Provide staffing for programs, pursuits, and internal efforts (IR&D, Special Projects, etc.) for Microelectronics Manufacturing supporting both Space and Avionics programs.
Meet functional organization and business AOP budgets.
Advance Manufacturing/Operations processes as appropriate to ensure tools, processes, and staff are competitive and applicable to the business needs. Development of Manufacturing/Process Technology roadmap and capital planning.
Support pursuits and proposals in the business, including review/approval of technical proposals and Basis of Estimates (BOEs) as needed.
Lead/Support Technical Tiger Teams for Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) assessment on programs where applicable.
Communication of production strategies broadly to expedite adoption and institutionalize best practices – strong executive communication and presentation skills
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience
Preferred Additional Skills:
Master’s degree is a plus
Experience in Manufacturing/Operations leadership capacity (i.e. Group Lead, IPT Lead, PE, CAM)
Experience with high reliability electronic assembly processes for microelectronic assembly processes for MCMs and Hybrids (i.e. die attach, wire bonding, epoxy dispensing, hermetic sealing, etc.).
Experience in applying best practice FMEA/DFMA/DTC methodologies.
Background in the development/LRIP manufacturing efforts is preferred.
Standard use of MES, PDM, and MRP is preferred.
Knowledge of MIL/ IPC workmanship and performance standards related to electronic assemblies (Mil-Std 883, Mil-Perf-38534, IPC-610, IPC-620, etc.).
Ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance
Current and active Experimental security clearance
Six Sigma Green/Black Belt Certification
Expertise and experience in implementation of Lean Manufacturing
Demonstrated ability to deliver and sustain measurable result
Ability to coach, mentor and build relationships with external organizations
Self-starter; problem solver; customer focus
Ability to clearly and succinctly convey information and ideas, including strong executive communication and presentation skills
