Job Description:

Owner of the New Product Development (NPD) Process as it pertains to the Manufacturing Engineering discipline within the Electronic Systems (ES) organization. The goal of this newly created role will be to establish and implement a process to insure new products are designed to be highly manufacturable. The successful candidate will participate on NPD design teams, as well as establishing KPI’s to track design for manufacturability (DFM) targets across all ES sites.

Owner of manufacturing engineering assessment and training across the ES segment. This leader will work with the corporate training office to insure companywide training initiatives are targeting the appropriate needs of the ES manufacturing engineering community.

This leader will also benchmark technologies across Harris and the entire electronics / electro-mechanical industry to develop a strategic technology roadmap for ES. In addition, they will insure manufacturing engineering and technology best practices are shared across the ES segment.


  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering Discipline with 6+ years of professional relevant experience, OR, Master’s Degree in Engineering Discipline with 4+ years of professional relevant experience.

  • Prior experience with New Product Development (NPD).

  • Prior experience with electronics or electro-mechanical manufacturing.

  • Experience in productivity improvements, including cost, cycle time, and inventory reductions.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience in CCA manufacturing, mechanical assembly, machine shop, finishing, electrical assembly, composites, and testing operations.

  • Master’s in Business Administration is a plus.

  • Experienced in pneumatics and/or composites a plus.

  • Demonstrated experience in Lean principles; mistake proofing, 3P, etc.

  • Black Belt or Green Belt certification a plus.

  • Ability to develop and build a high performing organization.

  • Ability to develop and manage organizational budgets.
