The successful candidate will have a demonstrated background in the USG space market, and will work within a high performing team of business development and capture professionals and work effectively with senior business development leadership as well as business unit, business area, program, and functional entities. The candidate will be pivotal in developing pursuit and capture plans, business strategy, identifying and qualifying new business opportunities and interfacing with customers to close on contract orders to meet annual operating and strategic growth plans. This position will be supporting the Mission Solutions Business Area (MSBA) of the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Unit within the Space and Intelligence Systems Segment. This position is located in the Melbourne/Palm Bay Florida location.

As part of the business development team and in partnership with business area leadership, the successful candidate will:

  • Win new business with Government and commercial space customers and primes.

  • Ensure execution of comprehensive financial analysis, capture strategy, competitive assessments, business case, and price-to-win related to closing new business

  • Lead and drive opportunity identification, qualification, shaping and positioning for programs across multiple customer communities through identification of unmet mission needs.

  • Mature account and contact plans for major clients

  • Develop a roadmap of pursuits mapped to customer needs for each the business area

  • Promote and foster continued business development opportunities with existing customers.

  • Expand and grow business base by developing new customer relationships

  • Prioritize and manage discretionary budgets associated with MSBA business area

  • Establish close working relationships with Business Area leadership

  • Effectively communicate status of activities above to leadership

Technology Understanding

  • Ability to translate technical understanding of products and technology for purposes of customer communication and engagement.

  • Ability to understand the missions, systems, and subsystems associated with high performance Small Satellites, and associated ground systems.

  • Ability to understand and influence the BU/BA strategies relative to ISR

  • Ability to influence the IRAD investment, and look for synergies between IRADs to maximize results while minimizing investments.

Business Acumen

  • Create and foster a business acumen culture which embraces a strategic, proactive approach in supporting business area leaders with identifying, actively pursuing and closing new business.

Business Rhythm

  • Support the day-to-day business rhythm and reporting

  • Estimate and manage new business funds and participate in strategic fund planning for internal research and development.

  • Execute campaign strategies relative to business capture

  • Support business acquisition process milestone/gate reviews; to include opportunity identification, qualification, pursuit, pre-proposal, and proposal processes.

  • Work closely with business development teams within other ISR business areas.

  • Participation in forums/conferences to further position Harris as a thought leader for MSBA

  • Represent Harris Corporation at customer meetings, Industry related meetings and conferences

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher with a minimum of 15 years of experience or post graduate degree and 13 years of experience; or equivalent.

  • 10 years of established contacts with major customers in the defense, space and intelligence markets

  • 10 years experience demonstrated experience engaging with senior executives at government agencies, major prime contractors, and commercial companies

  • 10 years experience with with technologies that are applied to ISR solutions (satellite busses, sensor systems, integrated payloads, electro-optical and R/F systems

  • Active Top Secret or TS/SCI security clearance

  • Ability to travel 30%

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Understanding and familiarity with space-based ISR acrchitectures, missions, and markets, and supporting ground systems

  • Disciplined, self-starting professional who can bring projects to closure with minimum direction, guidance and oversight

  • Experience leading programs/projects

  • Ability to lead and develop relationships with geographically dispersed people

  • Demonstrated ability in competitive analysis, customer analysis, win strategy development, proposal and color team leadership and price-to win analysis

  • Proficiency with Microsoft office tools

  • Work independently under limited supervision

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
