Job Description

Harris is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior DevOps Engineer. As our new Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for driving the adoption of DevOps initiatives across the Harris Enterprise. This includes developing a vision and strategy that results in significant increase in adoption as well as development measures that have a direct impact to business performance. The position also requires tactical interaction with the business leadership and execution teams to ensure proper implementation of the DevOps roadmap and realization of improvement measures. Applicant should have experience with several tools, applications and scripting languages in the DevOps tool chain along with broad knowledge in the following areas:

  • Agile Project Management

  • Orchestration & Automation Scripting (Perl, Python, Java Script, etc.)

  • Cloud Technology

  • Container Concepts (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)

  • Continuous Integration (Jenkins, Bamboo, etc.)

  • Deployment Automation & Orchestration (Nexus, Artifactory, etc.)

  • Source Control Management (Git, Subversion, ClearCase, etc.)

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the DevOps adoption to implement an automated build, integration, test and deployment strategy, along with the associated operational tools

  • Define DevOps metrics strategy using industry best-practices including the definition, design and implementation of a holistic DevOps dashboard

  • Support the DevOps standard tool suite deployment and adoption strategy and transition to Cloud Service providers for a large portfolio of Engineering applications

  • Drive Program development, Program Management and support teams in the adoption of DevOps practices and how that translates into end-to-end tool adoption

  • Advance full life-cycle development experience (design, test, implement, deploy) using modern development methodologies (Agile, DevOps) and tools

  • Develop and automate solutions directly related to continuous integration and infrastructure automation

  • Provide technical consultation to programs and program leadership on the implementation and execution of DevOps initiatives

  • Provide technical mentoring to junior and mid-level DevOps engineers as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelors, or Masters of Science degree from an accredited university in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics

  • Must have experience presenting to Senior Leadership strategies and technology advancements

  • 10+ years of experience in application development and testing including experience working with cloud service providers as well as on premise platforms and technologies

  • 10+ years of experience in DevOps practices across multiple projects including a wide variety of DevOps tools

Preferred Additional Skills

  • Previous experience developing product for DoD/government customers a plus

  • Experience transforming an organization from a traditional waterfall to DevOps environment a plus

  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to influence and ensure forward progress

  • Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on company’s success

  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills

  • Team player

  • Good time-management skills

  • Ability to acquire a Security Clearance is desired
