Job Description :

The LiDAR Sensor Operator plays a key role in the Data Acquisition projects. The operator is responsible for the operation of LiDAR imaging sensor, digital imagery systems, and GPS instruments on an aircraft platform. The operator is also responsible for monitoring and reporting key components of the airborne operation.

  • Assist in researching daily PDOP spikes, sun angles and weather forecasts

  • Assist in detailed flight line planning

  • Assist with In-aircraft equipment alignment, calibration, and testing

  • Operating airborne LiDAR, digital imagery systems and GPS instruments

  • Record and update flight logs and daily reports

  • Monitor the quality of GPS, image data, and pilot’s flight performance

  • Assist with the routine maintenance and troubleshooting of laser sensor, GPS equipment and other in-flight equipment

  • Post flight, check navigation trajectories to see if anything was missed

  • Assist with the installation of airborne laser sensor equipment

  • Participate in the quality management system, by working to document processes and procedures, plus offering recommendations on improvement opportunities for increasing efficiency and effectiveness of operations.

  • Participate in pre-flight and post flight safety checks

  • Assist in the review and documentation of the processes and procedures with the Field Operations manager

Requirements :

  • Associate’s Degree with 0-2 years of experience or equivalent

  • Must be able to work alternative shifts as required.

Preferred Additional Skills :

  • Understanding of aerial survey technologies

  • Post-secondary education related to the Geomatics or Geospatial industry desired, but not required

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products

  • Ability to work as a critical member of an operating team

  • Knowledge of set up, operation and breakdown of GPS ground station equipment

  • Strong time management skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced field environment

  • Keen analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to travel internationally

  • Valid passport and driver’s license
