Job Description

Harris Corporate Headquarters, Global Security, is seeking an Emergency Management Program Support Officer to support the Harris Crisis Management Team (HCMT) Chair. S/he will provide direct support to the development and implementation of comprehensive emergency/crisis/incident response planning, policy and procedures, and emergency management operations across the organization.

  • Assist in development, implementation, and ongoing management of plans/procedures for crisis and significant incident management

  • Assist the HCMT staff in its responsibility to lead, direct, manage and oversee the preparation for, protection against, response to, and recovery from incidents adversely impacting business operations

  • Support the HCMT Chair in carrying out emergency crisis management functions

  • Assist in planning, participating in, and evaluating emergency exercises

  • Provide support to other functional groups (Security, Human Resources, Communications, Finance, Facilities, Employee Health & Safety, etc.) and business segments in furtherance of business continuity operations and planning activities related to crisis management

  • Serve as liaison with Communications team and other functional leaders in the development, implementation, and management of internal emergency/crisis/incident communication tools

  • Prepare, document, and maintain current contact information for critical emergency/crisis/incident response personnel

  • Research, summarize, and coordinate demonstrations for vendor support of emergency management planning and response activities

  • Prepare clear, concise, and professional summaries, reports, agendas, briefings, and other communications for leadership and Executive staff

  • Participate in internal working groups and councils

  • Coordinate conference and/or bridge calls to convene response teams as directed

  • Serve as alternate Director of Emergency Operations (DEO) for Brevard County, Florida for hurricane planning and response

  • Coordinate with law enforcement and emergency response personnel where necessary

  • Other duties as required

  • Some travel may be required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years related experience (equivalent education may be considered in lieu of experience)

Preferred Additional Skills

  • Experience writing policy, procedures, and developing executive level briefings

  • Experience effectively communicating, both orally and in writing

  • Experience in emergency management, risk management, loss prevention, and corporate security

  • Experience with emergency management and business continuity systems

  • Demonstrated advanced project management skills and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally

  • Experience interacting with people at all levels of the organization

  • Experience and familiarity with the National Industrial Security Program and related Department of Defense Directives

  • Security Board Certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and Physical Security Professional (PSP) preferred

  • Management experience including planning, budgeting, and leading teams

  • Experience in developing statements of work and contracts

  • Active Secret clearance preferred
