Harris is seeking an engineer to lead production activities overseeing the manufacturing and testing of various electro-mechanical assemblies for DoD and government programs. The position will be fast paced and schedule driven. Familiarity with electro-mechanical assemblies, cabling, and circuit card assemblies will be highly beneficial in this role.
Manage daily logistics and workflow to ensure maximized throughput for manufacturing and test.
Collaborate with engineering for design for manufacturability.
Provide technical evaluation inputs for all program needs both internal to Harris and for our suppliers.
Plan, coordinate and manage cost, schedule, and technical performance (CAM) for the assigned program effort. Collaboration with the program team with emphasis on achievement of cost and schedule targets.
Analyze internal and external operations to assess risks (cost, schedule and technical performance) as well as opportunities, developing risk mitigation plans, and taking corrective action when risks/opportunities are identified.
Support lean/process improvement initiatives of technical and operational nature.
Support root cause and corrective action processes.
Design and develop manufacturing tools, strategies and systems.
Plan and manage manpower/equipment/process resources.
Work alongside Quality, Test, and Reliability Engineering functions to achieve common program and operational goals.
Review and approve drawing and parts lists revision updates.
Bachelor's Degree in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or industrial engineering with a minimum of 6+ years industry experience, OR, Master’s Degree in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or industrial engineering and 4+ years industry experience.
Hands-on experience with Electro-Mechanical Assemblies.
A minimum of 4 years of experience in applying best practice FMEA/DFMA/DTC methodologies, leading Kaizen events, implementing root cause corrective action analysis and lean manufacturing techniques.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Background in the development/LRIP manufacturing efforts is preferred.
Background in the manufacturing of electronics for military and government systems
Background in fast paced production manufacturing environment
Familiarity with root cause and corrective action analysis tools for use towards manufacturing process problems, workmanship defects, mechanical test failures, etc.
Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt, or working knowledge of Lean/Process Improvement tools.
Good communication skills including the ability to deliver effective presentations to peers, management, and customers
Ability to provide technical solutions to a range of challenging problems with creative, practical solutions that are consistent with organizational objectives
