The successful candidate will work effectively with senior business development leadership as well as program, technical and R&D entities for developing business strategy, identifying and qualifying new business opportunities and interfacing with customers to close on contract orders to meet annual operating plan and strategic growth plan. This position will be supporting the Electronics Systems Segment and our DoD and IC Customers, specifically customers engaged in cutting edge R&D, such as DARPA, NRL, AFRL, NRO AS&T, CIA DS&T, etc. This individual will work closely with the Harris Electronic Systems R&D office to determine areas where we can utilize customer funded R&D to supplement our internal R&D investments to grow our core capabilities in areas such as electronic warfare, mission processing, ruggedized avionics packaging, digital signal processing, high performance antennas, strategic SATCOM, and cellular expertise. This position will help craft new development ideas, and then work to secure external funding to supplement internal investment advancing the technology.
Strategy & Business Development Understanding:
As part of the Strategy and Business Development team, the successful candidate will:
Win new business with Government and commercial prospects
Ensure execution of comprehensive financial analysis, capture strategy, competitive assessments, business case, and price-to-win related to closing new business
Lead and drive opportunity identification, qualification, shaping and positioning for R&D programs across multiple customer organizations through identification of unmet mission needs tied to internal goals for technology development.
Mature account and contact plans for major clients
Recommend strategies and approaches for differentiation based on market understanding
Develop a roadmap of pursuits mapped to customer needs to support strategic planning
Promote and foster continued business development opportunities with existing customers
Expand and grow business base by developing new customer relationships
Represent Harris Corporation at customer meetings, Industry-related meetings and conferences
Establish close working relationships with R&D leadership
Effectively communicate status of activities above to executive leadership
Participate in strategic fund planning for internal research and development.
Execute campaign strategies relative to business capture planning,
Lead / support business acquisition process milestone/gate reviews; to include opportunity identification, qualification, pursuit, pre-proposal, and proposal processes
Technology Understanding :
As part of the Internal R&D and Technology team and in partnership with Segment and business unit leadership and engineering, the successful candidate will:
Translate technical understanding of products and technology for purposes of customer communication and engagement
Navigate and drive ambiguous customer desires and concepts into a defined system architecture with clear requirements
Develop and articulate high level CONOPS and Use Cases from customer information
Understand and influence the internal R&D strategies relative to customer mission needs
Influence the IRAD investment, and look for synergies between IRADs to maximize results while minimizing investments
Lead participation in forums/conferences to further position Harris as a thought leader for solutions relevant to DARPA, DoD, and Services R&D goals
- Create and foster a commercial business acumen culture which embraces a strategic, proactive approach in supporting business area leaders with identifying, actively pursuing and supporting closure of new business
- Act as a change agent for the business, ensuring innovations and developments are led to successful implementation
Post-Graduate Engineering or Science Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 15 years of experience or PhD and 10 years of experience; or equivalent.
6 plus years of experience being familiar with DARPA, AFRL, NRO AS&T, CIA DS&T, IARPA, mission and architectures.
6 plus years’ experience leading programs/projects.
6 plus years leading and developing relationships with geographically dispersed people.
6 plus years demonstrated working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
6 plus years demonstrated ability in competitive analysis, customer analysis, win strategy development, proposal and color team leadership and price-to win analysis.
Demonstrated technical breadth and depth within the C4I domain, signal processing, and electronic warfare
Preferred Additional Skills:
Ability to Travel – up to 50%
TS/SCI or Top Secret
Machine learning application experience a plus
