Job Description:

Quality Engineer Senior Specialist needed to define, develop, modify, apply and implement quality evaluation, controls systems and protocols for remote sensing space applications. Able to work to improve processes through statistical and data analysis and support Quality Inspectors to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system. The applicant shall be able to effectively communicate program status and compliance to both internal and external customers. Additional responsibilities include travel to suppliers and coordination of support activities across multiple programs that range from inspections, associated with incoming material and build of assemblies, to review of test setups against procedure and data against pass fail criteria. Interface with customer quality representatives for build and test activities. Lead/participate on Material Review Board and Failure Review Board meetings; provide drawing reviews, test procedure reviews and customer interface to these activities. Insure design modifications or updates meet all quality requirements while sitting as a member on the Configuration Control Board. May coordinate supplier support across multiple programs and may travel to suppliers to perform hardware inspections.


  • Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent

Preferred Additional Skills

  • Willing to travel to suppliers 2-4 days at a time

  • Ability to work periodic on-call support over off-shifts, weekends and holidays

  • Ability to work different shifts as needed throughout the year

  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment for extended periods of time

  • Knowledge of quality control methods and procedures, military specifications as they apply to the electronics industry, reliability requirements of electronic, mechanical and electromechanical equipment and surveillance methods and procedures.

  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing, materials, contract administration, industrial, test and design engineering.

  • Working knowledge of the NASA-STD-8739.1, 2, 3 and 4 or have current certifications

  • Familiar with Configuration Control Management

  • Efficient with GD&T

  • Previous experience managing accounts

  • Small team leadership experience

  • Project Engineering experience

  • Ability to frequently interact with internal company contacts and customers

  • Experience with performing Failure Analysis (FA) and Construction Analysis (CA) utilizing the necessary electrical tests and measurements, plus many of the advanced analytical techniques of physics, metallurgy, and chemistry

  • Component Engineering experience for high reliability parts
