Job Description:

Harris Corporation is seeking a self motivated toolmaker to run our CNC machine shop and help deliver mission critical solutions for a variety of customers at our Columbia, MD location.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for planning, CAM and G-Code programming, layout, setup and operating a variety of major CNC vertical mills and lathe machine centers as well as conventional machine tools.

  • Works closely with Engineering team members using CAD(SolidWorks) models and drawings, process sheets and sketches to perform precision machining operations.

  • Checks and inspects fabricated parts to model and drawing requirements using a CMM as well as a host of inspection devices including calipers, micrometers, pin gages, etc.

  • Work may include sheet metal operations, or machine hardware and assemblies.

  • Interactively works with team members and makes recommendations concerning use improvement with materials and design.

Required:

  • High School Graduate with minimum of 6+ years’ experience.

  • Must be experienced and proficient with CAM programming using FeatureCAM or equivalent.

  • Must be familiar with SolidWorks CAD tool or equivalent solid modeling design software.

  • Detailed knowledge of 3+2 axis CNC vertical machine centers as well as CNC lathes.

  • Should have good computer proficiencies with typical office tools including MS Word and Excel.

  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision, facilitate shop flow and ensure that fabrication schedule requirements are met.

  • Must be a US citizen who is able to obtain and maintain a US Secret security clearance.

Desired Skills:

  • MIG and TIG welding experience is a real plus.

  • Active secret clearance.
