Harris Corporation Space and Intelligence Systems has an opening for a Specialist, Technical Support Engineering to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, Colorado . The individual will work in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and a collaborative team setting.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and technical support of mobile satellite communications (SATCOM) systems

  • Perform routine, non-routine, and complex maintenance assignments for supported SATCOM systems including: communications, networking, antenna, power, timing, signal distribution, trucks, trailers, environmental control, and support equipment

  • Provide technical advice, assistance, and maintenance services to military SATCOM operators and management

  • Identify and troubleshoot system problems

  • Conduct tests using a wide range of instruments and test equipment

  • Analyze results to restore systems or improve performance

  • Document and report results

  • Conduct site surveys in support of CONUS or OCONUS exercises and deployments

  • Assist in the planning, preparation, mission engineering of all SATCOM equipment prior to CONUS or OCONUS operations

  • Assemble, configure, install, integrate, calibrate, test, and validate equipment

  • Participate in training exercises and system deployments in CONUS or OCONUS locations

  • Assist with engineering, integration and test activities

  • Implement and ensure adherence to operations, maintenance and organizational procedures and policies

  • Author, review, edit, and recommend changes to technical and procedural documentation

  • Account for and ensure positive control of critical resources

  • Monitor technical and professional performance and act quickly to correct deficiencies.

  • Assist in workplace and personnel safety by identifying and mitigating risks and intervenes to prevent mishaps

  • Provide telephonic support as required to help isolate and resolve difficult issues

  • Mentor and train junior satellite personnel

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree and 8+ years of engineering experience OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 4+ years of engineering experience OR

  • Master’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 2+ years of engineering experience

  • An active DoD Top Secret/SCI security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent 2-way communication skills (upward and downward)

This position requires the candidate to already possess an active DoD Top Secret/SCI security clearance and to maintain the clearance.
