Harris Corporation Space and Intelligence Systems has an opening for a Specialist, Software Engineering to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, Colorado . The individual will work in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and a collaborative team setting.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure the availability, scalability, security, and performance of the VMware ESXi environment

  • Develop and maintain system requirements, architecture, design and implementation documentation

  • Develop operational documentation and specifications on system builds, disaster recovery documentation, and standard operating procedures

  • Identification and resolution of service level problems and the identification and support of mission-critical tasks

  • Manage staff to Test and implement patches, extensions, and device drivers

  • Coordinate with the Security Administrators and Systems Analysts to improve and maintain the technical standards of the environment

  • Troubleshoot and fix hardware and software problems

  • Troubleshoot and fix networking issues at the system level

  • Work any shift

  • Ad hoc projects

  • Act as a liaison to internal and external stakeholders

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree and 8+ years of experience of software engineering and development OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 4+ years of software engineering and development experience OR

  • Master’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 2+ years of software engineering and development experience OR

  • An active, in-scope DoD Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with designing, building, and maintaining high-availability virtual environments

  • Experience with ESXi, vCenter, HA, DRS, and EVC, NSX

  • Experience with shared storage technologies including VSAN

  • Experience with network technologies including Ethernet, and TCP/IP

  • Experience with x86 based hardware and lights-out management

  • Experience with performing performance analysis to determine troubleshoot and isolate issues in a hyper-converged virtual environment

  • Ability to automate day-to-day tasks/activities using current technologies

  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and act on results

  • Experience with RedHat Linux and Microsoft Windows system administration

This position requires the candidate to already possess an active DoD Secret security clearance and to maintain the clearance.
