Harris Corporation Space and Intelligence Systems has an opening for a Senior Specialist, Software Engineering to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, Colorado . The individual will work in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and a collaborative team setting.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and maintain software configuration management tools to support configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of both internally developed and externally purchased commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software products

  • Design, develop, automate, maintain and document productivity tools using programming, database or scripting languages to improve software modeling and development

  • Design, implement and maintain build procedures that are used to support software product development and use

  • Train and mentor software developers in the use of configuration management tools and the implementation of software quality standards

  • Responsible for the documentation of each tool and process in order for systems to be repeatable

  • Develop and maintain automated build software applications and/or automated software build scripting

  • Use build control processes, including tools such as but not limited to Make, Ant, Gradle, Maven and the Atlassian tool sets

  • Develop and maintain software on Unix-based and Windows operating systems

  • Travel < 25% for site integration and test support

  • Ad hoc projects

  • Act as a liaison to internal and external stakeholders

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree and 10+ years of experience of software engineering and development OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 6+ years of software engineering and development experience OR

  • Master’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 4+ years of software engineering and development experience OR

  • An active, in-scope DoD Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with git Configuration Management tools, e.g. Subversion, Git

  • Experience with Apache Subversion Configuration Management tools

  • Experience working in a team environment and collaborating with others to solve problems

  • Experience with scripting programming languages such as bash, Perl, Python and Java

  • Security+ certification within 6 months of employment

  • Experience with Jenkins, Artifactory/Nexus, Chef, Apache, SVN, SPLUNK

  • Experience with IBM Rational family of Configuration Management tools (DOORS 9.x and Next Generation, ClearCase, ClearQuest)

  • Familiarity with static code analysis tools

  • Experience with Java development (Eclipse, GUI/services/IPCs/network messaging)

  • Experience in engineering/reverse engineering/modelling (MagicDraw or equivalent) new and existing code

This position requires the candidate to already possess an active DoD Secret security clearance and to maintain the clearance.
