Harris Corporation Space and Intelligence Systems has an opening for a Project Designer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, Colorado .

Essential Functions:

  • Manage design baselines in modern PDM/PLM tools using SolidWorks and AutoCAD

  • Prepare and incorporate engineering Change Notices (CN’s)

  • Responsible for generating drawings and documentation packages from 3D models and 2D sketches to ASME Y14.100 standards

  • Verify completeness of all finished work including dimensional characteristics and notes

  • Input data and manage structures in PDM

  • Design and document tasks including but not limited to: support equipment, electronics, mechanisms, structures, chassis, facilities and electronics packaging

  • Act as a liaison to internal and external stakeholders

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree and 10+ years of Computer Aided Design (CAD) design and drafting experience OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 6+ years of CAD design and drafting experience OR

  • Master’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 4+ years of CAD design and drafting experience

  • Experience using SolidWorks and AutoCAD

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance

  • The ability to obtain and maintain program access

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An active DoD security clearance

  • Experience or training in computer aided drafting

  • Experience with 3-dimensional, object oriented CAD tools

  • Experience with assembly layouts and concepts

  • An understanding of the requirements ASME Y14.5, (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance), and its application techniques

  • Knowledge of applicable government and industry standards

  • Understanding of manufacturing and assembly techniques

  • Experience in setting up PDM environment for Solid Works a plus

  • Must be intimate with the MS Office suite of software

  • An understanding of parts list and hardware tree structures

  • Experience with board layouts, electronics and mechanical parts

  • Experience in management (tracking and reporting) and control of mechanical and electrical digital data files through the release process
