Job Description:

  • Lead development teams in the design, development, integration, test, and release of embedded software/firmware for DoD and international waveforms running on multiple tactical combat radio form factors.

  • Lead teams performing research, design, development and integration activities of embedded software/firmware systems, in conjunction with hardware product development

  • Work with cross functional teams to successfully release products on schedule and within budget

  • Track progress on development tasks against schedule and budget and make software architectural decisions for waveform applications and radio operating environments

  • Analyze requirements to determine feasibility of design options within time and cost constraints

  • Consult with electrical or mechanical engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate interfaces between hardware and software/firmware, and operational performance requirements of the overall system

  • Develop and direct software and system testing procedures and documentation

  • Be responsible for high level and detailed embedded software/firmware design development and documentation preparation

  • Provide guidance to junior engineers

  • Participate in peer reviews and identify, track, and repair defects

  • Lead engineering teams developing secure voice and data waveforms.

  • Waveform development includes a wide range of military waveforms such as broadcast combat net radio waveforms, MANET waveforms, and SATCOMM waveforms.

  • Report status to upper management and customers

Qualification s:

  • Bachelor’s degree in (Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Math) and 15+ years industry experience with 3+ years’ experience of embedded software development experience in a CMM/CMMI Level 3 environment, and C/C++ language experience with Object Oriented Design and implementations in a process oriented environment.

  • 3+ years’ experience leading embedded software development projects

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with embedded software development on General Purpose Processors (GPPs) such as ARM processors or Digital Signal Processors (DSPs)

  • Experience with UML and documenting software/system architecture design

  • Experience with embedded software design and development

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Understanding of the design of large systems

  • Familiarity with code and process management tools such as Code Collaborator, DOORS, JIRA, and SVN

  • Understanding of disciplined software development process (CMMI)

  • Familiarity with JTRS and the SCA

  • Experience with POSIX, QNX, Linux, and CORBA

  • Experience with Agile development processes

  • Experience with Government Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and Earned Value Management (EVM)
