Job Description:

Harris Corporation is looking for a Quality Engineer to join its operations organization in Clifton, NJ.The successful candidate will:

  • Coordinating all program specific Product Assurance activities with the Customer and Government representatives, Manufacturing, Engineering, Procurement, Logistics and Program Management.

  • Assuring that contractual quality system requirements are met.

  • Performing contract reviews to capture and understand contractual quality requirements.

  • Ensuring flow-down of quality requirements to all sub-tier suppliers via application of Q-clauses at the Contract ID (CID) and Part/CID levels.

  • Earned Value management and reporting of all Product Assurance Cost Accounts. Duties include tracking of incurred labor costs and providing periodic updates for Cost Performance and Estimates at Completion (EAC); attendance and participation at monthly reviews with departmental management and quarterly reviews with Program Managers.

  • Participating in Design Reviews and Configuration Change Board (CCB) Meetings. Duties include reviewing and approving new design documentation prior to release and subsequent engineering changes and approving any required associated Effectivity Plans (EFPs).

  • Reviewing and approving Engineering Material Requests (EMRs) procurement requests, when necessary, and ensuring that associated purchase orders contain the appropriate quality clauses.

  • Ensuring that Engineering, Project Management, and Operations activities are executed in accordance with Harris’ Quality Management System (QMS) policies and procedures.

  • Approving CID-to-CID Material Transfers and re-identification of inventoried parts as required.

  • Follow-up on Quality-related material or manufacturing process issues to ensure timely resolution.

  • Working with Suppliers and Subcontractors to resolve issues related to failures and delivery problems. This task may involve trips to the supplier (within the US).

  • Providing Product Assurance technical and cost inputs to bids and proposals, sometimes within short timeframes, in order to capture new business.

  • Ensuring that parts selected for the program are appropriate for the theater of operation.


  • BS in Engineering (preferably in Electrical Engineering).

  • 10+ years of experience in Quality Assurance or Project Engineering within the Aerospace and Defense industry. Ideally with a working knowledge of AS9100 QMS requirements and Earned Value Management System (EVMS).

  • Working knowledge in MS-Office and MS-Project applications.

  • Must hold an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.

Preferred Skills:

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Project Engineering

  • Prior experience in Reliability, Maintainability and Safety (R/M/S) Engineering or familiarity with Electronic Warfare concepts and designs a plus.

This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Secret security clearance. In order to obtain a clearance, you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
