We have an opening for a Senior Software Engineering Manager with deep experience and expertise designing and delivering commercially-competitive software using modern software engineering practices and cloud technologies. You will leverage time-tested and leading-edge Harris Geospatial Solutions analytics (our ENVI software) along with the necessary components and capabilities on both public and private clouds and drive the evolution of geospatial analytic solutions on the web.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing, developing and deploying highly visible, scalable and reliable commercially available solutions

  • Driving early platform and technology adoption wins with top customers and partners

  • Demonstrating technical subject matter expertise to scope projects, architect design solutions, and resolve issues

  • Continually define best practices and standards with the development leadership team

Qualifications:

  • BS + 12 years’ experience or MS + 10 years’ experience in Computer Science or related degree or equivalent experience

  • Development experience with open-source geospatial software

  • Development experience with AWS and related technologies

  • Experience with team/technical leadership

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience in Agile development

  • Ability to coordinate people and take software to market quickly

  • Knowledge of release management and deployment workflow processes, from development release through staging and production deployment

  • Ability to evangelize and sell stakeholders across the company on key engineering priorities and how they connect with larger company initiatives

  • Ability to lead technically complex projects – this will require accountability of architecture and best engineering practices in the projects

  • Decision-making skills, conflict resolution, and follow through

  • An established technical profile (e.g., social networks, blogging, GitHub, conference speaker, etc.)

  • Experience making major investment decisions for third party tools or technologies, build vs. buy, and fund or not fund decisions
