Job Description:

Perform the duties of a Software Engineer 2 through the entire development life cycle from requirements development, design, coding, and integration through testing. Work well with other engineers and other engineering departments. Ability to work in C, and C++. Knowledge of Linux a plus. The successful candidate will:

  • Perform research, design, development and integration activities of embedded software/firmware systems, in conjunction with hardware product development.

  • Apply of the principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.

  • Analyzes requirements to determine feasibility of design options within time and cost constraints.

  • Consults with electrical or mechanical engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software/firmware, and operational performance requirements of the overall system.

  • Develops and directs software system testing procedures, programming and documentation.

  • High level and detailed embedded software/firmware design development and documentation preparation.

  • Candidate should have experience in object-oriented design and development in a process oriented environment.

  • Perform hardware and software system integration.

  • Provide guidance to junior engineers

  • Participation in peer reviews. Identifying, tracking and repairing defects


  • BSEE, BSCS, BSCE required with a minimum of 3 years industry experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge of C, C++, QNX, Makefiles, and Microsoft office necessary. Knowledge of configuration management practices and the usage of tools such as SVN needed.

  • Proficiency with C++ programming language and Object-Oriented Design (OOD) required.

  • Experience with software emulators/debuggers required.

  • Proficiency with multi-threaded design and/or real-time operating systems is required.

  • Experience with flash file systems, XML, networking protocols and/or Ethernet switching.

  • Experience with Windows NT and/or Unix host environments.

  • Knowledge of C/C++, IP Networking and Wireless Networking desirable.

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
