The person filling this position will lead manufacturing associated activities related to capacity planning, tooling and equipment requirements development/maintenance and Lean/Process Improvement initiatives on programs with avionics applications. The type of hardware produced at this Harris location is often complex, containing circuit card assemblies (CCAs), cable harnesses, and higher level box-build electro-mechanical assemblies. This position is responsible for ensuring adequate capacity for manufacturing execution internally and externally with emphasis on schedule development/management, risk and critical path analysis, and maintaining equipment and tooling lists. This position may include coordination/management of subcontractors and suppliers.
Develop and maintain capacity analysis for internal and supplier needs.
Coordinate closely with the customer and work through a multi-functional organization to develop, execute and manage program tooling requirements.
Prepare plans, reports and presentations to communicate to customers, other team members and subcontractors.
Analyze internal and external operations to assess risks (cost, schedule and technical performance) as well as opportunities, developing risk mitigation plans, and taking corrective action when risks/opportunities are identified.
Plan and lead capital projects and facility changes. Tasks may include but not be limited to the following:
Forecast future needs
Develop capital inputs and justifications (e.g. ROI analysis, etc.)
Determine implementation strategy
Manage schedule for all capital related projects
Support lean/process improvement initiatives of technical and operational nature.
Support root cause and corrective action processes.
Work alongside Quality, Test, and Reliability Engineering functions to achieve common program and operational goals.
Establish metrics and tracking tools to ensure execution milestones are met.
Perform level loaded capacity assessments for internal operations and supply base operations while working with Program and Delivery team to maintain appropriate levels of build capacity to support future customer needs.
Analyze product flow movements.
Report monthly inventory levels by product.
Ensure correct inventory levels are maintained to meet customer requirements.
Manage factory capacity models and identify and communicate potential capacity constraints to necessary parties.
Identify and adjust safety stock levels for each product type to ensure no risk to customer commitments.
Evaluate and drive improvements in MRP part lead-time and product demand levels.
Work with suppliers to optimize their manufacturing processes as it relates to what they produce for the company.
Identify, develop and implement any special processes, tools, and/or equipment to support manufacturing of product(s).
Review and approve drawing and parts lists revision updates.
Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace or Industrial engineering with minimum of 6 years industry experience.
Experience planning and managing manpower/equipment/process resources.
Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems is required.
Knowledge or experience with project management including scheduling and resource allocation forecasting.
Experience analyzing factory and/or operation capacity.
Experience leading teams to drive projects and achieve goals.
4+ years experience using MS Office, Excel, Visio and Project.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Lean Six-Sigma Certification
Background in the manufacturing of electronics for military and government systems.
Working knowledge of IPC/J-STD workmanship requirements.
Background in fast paced production manufacturing environment.
Background in developing/improving manufacturing processes.
Familiarity with root cause and corrective action analysis tools for use towards manufacturing process problems, workmanship defects, mechanical test failures, etc.
Working knowledge of Lean/Process Improvement tools.
Good communication skills including with the ability to deliver effective presentations to peers, management, and customers.
Tooling design knowledge and/or experience developing manufacturing related tooling.
Ability to create innovative solutions to meet external, internal customer requirements.
