Job Description:

Responsible for the development, deployment and execution of controls and defenses to ensure the security of company technology, information systems, and system deliverables. Develops and implements appropriate standards and criteria for hardware, software, access and encryption requirements. Establishes system security designs and validates compliance requirements. Assesses and mitigates system security threats and risks throughout the program life cycle. Performs system certification and accreditation planning, testing, and validation activities in coordination with government customers. Supports secure systems operations and maintenance. Conducts internal information technology system audits and risk assessments and reports findings and recommendations for corrective actions to management. Executes first level responses and addresses reported or detected incidents. Investigates and analyzes all response activities related to cyber incidents. Interprets, analyzes, and reports all events and anomalies in accordance with directives, to include initiating, responding, and reporting discovered events. Safeguards information against unauthorized use, infiltration, exfiltration, modification, destruction, or disclosure of national security information.

Essential Functions:

  • Senior professional with strong knowledge of job area and broad knowledge of project management. Manages complex projects or processes with general oversight. Communicates within and outside of own function to gain cooperation on operational processes, practices, and procedures. Makes moderate to substantial improvements to systems and processes. Contributes to achievement of departmental goals and operating plans with direct impact on the departmental results

  • Achieve operational targets with direct impact on the departmental results. Contributes to the development of goals for the department and planning efforts (budgets, operational plans, etc.)

  • Assigned requirements are performed with general oversight. May manage large projects or processes that are both inside and outside of immediate job area. Typically, responsible for providing guidance, coaching, and training to other employees. Typically, responsible for managing complex projects at this level, involving delegation of work and review of work products

  • Position consists of making moderate to substantial improvement or enhancements to systems and processes to improve performance of job area. Opportunities for problem solving and innovation are complex and may require comprehensive information gathering, analysis and investigation to understand the problem. Problems typically involve consideration of multiple issues, job areas or specialties. Problems are generally solved through creative solutions, drawing from prior experience and in-depth analysis of issues

  • Communicates within and outside of own function or business area and has responsibility for communicating with parties external to the organization (e.g., customers, vendors, etc.) when necessary. Explains, interprets, and gains cooperation on policies, procedures and practices

    Qualifications:

  • Requires strong knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. Typically viewed as having a specialty within discipline. May have broad knowledge of project management. Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience

  • Responsible for analyzing and/or administering security controls for information systems

  • Safeguards the network against unauthorized infiltration, modification, destruction or disclosure

  • Researches, evaluates, tests, recommends, communicates and implements new security software or devices

  • Implements, enforces, communicates and develops security policies or plans for data, software applications, hardware, and telecommunications

  • Provide details for developing Information System Security (ISS) Risk Management Framework (RMF) documentation (SSP, SAR, RAR, SAP, SCTM, POA&M, etc.) to support the Assessment & Authorization (A&A) of assigned system(s)

  • Performs ISS controls verification and validation as part of the systems’ Continuous Monitoring Plan

  • Oversees configuration management of assigned systems

  • Experience reviewing security compliance scans and interpreting vulnerability scanning results (Nessus, SCAP)

  • Strong knowledge of information system security principles and security related initiatives

  • Widespread experience in DISA Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIG) and requirements

  • Performs periodic hardware/software inventory audits

  • Identifies system security controls shortcomings and annotates POA&M entries for deficient items, playing a vital role with remediating control deficiencies

  • Assists with documenting annual ISS Self Assessments

  • Providing guidance to junior associates on program objectives and processes

  • Minimum DoD 8570.01-M IAM Level 2 Certification (i.e. CISSP or equivalent) required

  • Experience with Linux/Unix Information System Security requirements
